2009 Special Events

This event will take place both Saturday and Sunday, June 6 & 7, 2009.  Amateur cooks are asked to submit a prepared original recipe from the listed categories.  Each product will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Originality
  • Visual Appeal
  • Taste
  • Texture

 

A panel of chefs and food professionals will judge each category.  Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 winners in each category.

To enter the Country Fair Baking Contest, please fill out the online 
registration form.  The Food & Wine Festival at National Harbor will 
accept up to 20 entries in each category.  All contestants must 
register by noon the day he/she wishes to compete.  Registrations will be accepted on a first-come basis.  There is no extra charge for this event and it is open to home cooks.  It is necessary to have an admission ticket for The Food & Wine Festival at National Harbor to enter the judging.

A Fun Dining Experience Like No Other... An Authentic Clambake!

Foster's Clambake

Foster's Downeast Clambake in York, Maine, a "must" destination on New England itineraries, is now available to you during your visit to The Food & Wine Festival at National Harbor, June 6 & 7, 2009.

Guest are treated to a full, four-course meal, including a fresh Maine lobster so tender and sweet that it practically melts in your mouth. Their clam chowder has twice received the "Best Chowder" award at the International Boston Seafood Show. Steamer clams and cultivated mussels from Maine are cleansed in purified saltwater for 48 hours to remove all silt. Maine lobster men provide us with our finest resource, Maine lobsters! We add red bliss potatoes, roasted onions and fresh corn. Everything is steamed using our special techniques to provide a taste you won't forget.
